What does this mean? "I am free of at least one of the ties that bind?" Literary reference? Biblical?

Somebody posted this on twitter. And I don't know what it means. Your thoughts? Thanks.

Yes. Spiritual life means losing attachment to material things. This will explain the Spiritual life in western terms: http://gospelenigma.com
Christ said it like this: "Lose your life to find it." In the Far East, these attachments are known as "bondage," and people learn to "let go" in meditation and Yoga and so on. Getting free of the ties that bind is a spiritual expression. And a good thing as well, since attachments take away our freedom. |
