Is my friend lying to me?

Yesterday I sent my friend a message saying "Hey" 4 times and it said she saw it but she never responded. Then I commented on one of her statuses saying "Why aren't you responding to my messages?" She said "You messaged? o: " and I said "Yeah like 4 times today and it said that you saw them." Then she said "I guess facebook saw them. but i didnt. xD I dont check my messages anymore anyway."
Is she lying, or does that sound like a legitimate excuse?
But she still responds to me whenever I comment on her statuses. So why doesn't she wanna talk to me through messages????
