Help me PLEASE I'm 21 and I'm scared that I might have Alzheimer!!!!?
I'm male 21 years old and I know it sounds ridiculous that some this young might have a disease like Alzheimer. However these days I've been forgetting things. Very forgetful!!!

I'm hypochondriac only when I'm very stressed or anxious. I tend to think I may have diseases. Currently, I've had a lot of stress from college. You know: lots of presentations, assignments, lab work, homework etc etc all of them because we're in our final weeks. I just want to feel relaxed for a while and play some video games.

Anyway, my main thought every day is how much homework I have to do for the next day. Besides I'm not sleeping enough. I spend a lot of hours sometimes using y laptop to do homework or just cause. You know Facebook, chatting, Twitter, Youtube Videos and all that. I end up sleeping at 3 or 4 AM.

I've been forgetting things like these: Sometimes when I show a video to my brother, he would tell me that I already showed it to him, I've been misplacing things, I forget where I put things. sometimes when I need to take a medicine I forget I already took it. When my mom asks me to go to the store, I forget one of the things she asked me to buy; for example if she asks to buy 7 things, i bring either 5 or 5.

I've been trying to remember things I did 10, 4 , 5 , last year, last week, couple of months ago, and I can remember all of that very well . I don't know why it's only happening with recent things. My mom is doctor, well used to be, she no longer works. She told me that the reason I'm forgetting things is because I don't give my mind and body enough rest because of all the times I stay up and sleep very very late, and also because my college stress. Do you think it's only that? I need to sleep more, and relax more? Is my mom right? Please guys help I'm freaking out!!!

Okay one: you're only concern is that you're a definite hypochondriac. Which is good that you already realize this.
Two: what you're forgetting is common. I have people show me pictures, tell me stories, etc that they've already said or shown me before. And I'm sure I've done it. Actually, I know I have.
Misplacing things is normal.
Forgetting groceries is normal.. Hence the invention of the common grocery list.
Also, if you normally aren't forgetful at all, it is because you're not sleeping. Not sleeping can drain your body, including your brain which is where your memory is held. No sleep can cause short term memory loss. Go to sleep. You will feel better.

Also note.. Alzhemiers is much more serious than just forgetting common things. You forget names, places, where you live, people, even who you are. If you start forgetting serious things like these, then you can worry. And it is usually reserved for the very very elderly.
So calm down, get some sleep, relax, and you will be back to normal.

Your mum's right, a poor sleep pattern like yours is terrible for your state of mind, it amplifies all your worries and can drive you mad. get 8 hours a night, go to bed the same time each night, preferably before midnight.

Avoid caffeine and take a daily fish oil capsule, this has loads of benifits for your brain, and a valerian tablet (herbal) if you're feeling stressed.

You don't have Alzheimer's. Your mother is right.
