What are some good sites to build a fan-base?

I like to make music and i would like feedback on my work from time to time but, i haven't got a fan base to turn to.

I know of sites like facebook and Myspace but i can't get anyone to add either of them and can't get many views on youtube. Any tips for building a fan base?

I'de prefer sites that aren't like Myspace and Facebook and PLEASE don't say reverb nation that site spams my email and the community isn't very helpful.

I don't know if people still use it but I used to get on purevolume a lot to listen to new bands. Also try Twitter?

Twitter would work. There are tons of twitter fanbases for bands, groups and people. Just get some well- know fanbases to promote you and eventually you'll have followers. You'll have to make your tweets good, though, or people will unfollow you.
