If Nokia goes out of business and I get a Lumia 920 phone right before, will that affect me (apps or service)?

It uses Windows 7 and zune/xbox market for all its apps and songs and things. So if nokia goes out next week, and I bought a Lumia today, do you think I'll be affected?

I know this is kind of really lame, and I'm willing to throw money away for this, but I know Japan is having a tough time right now, and I'd really like to feel like I helped saved jobs and stimulated the global market and stuff.

I haven't heard any news to think Nokia was in trouble but if you have I guess that warrants enough reason to have questions.

Apps will be totally unaffected as that market doesn't depend on Nokia. You may see loss of support of Nokia specific apps but that's it. All others are "windows phone apps" not Nokia apps.

Tech support is generally still available either from a company that may buy out the company of concern or covered under bankruptcy agreements. Further down the road, if they were to go out of business, you may see less support availability but normally what is claimed when you buy their product is maintained, say 1 year warranty. If you buy separate insurance your provider may choose another option if something happens and the phone fails, so that's a consideration to cover yourself should something happen to Nokia. If they promise repair or replacement and can't replace it with a nokia they would likely replace it with a similar phone from another manufacturer.

All this is general assumption information. If you really have reason to think Nokia's in trouble then wait two weeks to buy the phone. Then you pass the point you think somethings going to happen.

Hope this helps.

Nokia will not go out of business because they are funded by Microsoft, who seem pretty keen to keep the relationship going and keep investing in them.

Oh and by the way, the 920 runs on windows phone 8, not 7
