Will I have success selling stuff on Twitter?
I make homemade items and here latley I have decided to start selling them. I can't use facebook because my family doesn't want me selling things. Do you think if I was to get enough followers I would actually start selling things? For know I just crochet but when I have the money I would like to sell other things as well. What do you think? Twitter is mainly use for building relationship and it's not for selling things, a blog shop will be a better option.

Hi, Randi! I would second the idea of a blog shop. I would also suggest http://www.etsy.com/, which is like an online craft fair. Etsy charges a small fee for things you sell, but they handle things through PayPal for you (similar to eBay), so it is more convenient than trying to handle an online store on your own. Also, the people visiting the site are already interested in buying handmade items and it is a well known site. I would use your Twitter as a marketing tool though. You can start following other people and occasionally tweet a reminder about your store. You can say things like, "A new item is in my store. You can see it at: etsy.com/[yourstorename] or [myblogname].com" Best of luck to you selling your items! They look really pretty!

First of all you need to make sure you're "marketing" to your target audience on Twitter.

Second, you don"t sell anything but yourself or your brand on Social Sites. Your Tweets themselves need to be "eye-catching" and engaging that links to useful, informative, and engaging content.

This builds a relationship with your followers and you can then market to them "off-site" meaning away from Twitter.

However, this does not mean that you don't Tweet about your sales, specials, product launches, reviews etc. you just need to be tactful in doing so. Many companies use Social Sites to help market their product launches, sales etc.

Best of luck!
