What is needed when making a comic book?
Obviously a writer and artist. Is there anyone else who should be in there to help out and stuff?

a publisher so you have lots of copies out.
advertising as well to get people to know about your product

the above arent important if you are just doing it for fun

main characters and sub characters (these are the ones that help out with the plot)
a MAJOR plot...nothing jumpy(all over the place plots=not good/too confusing for the readers)
themes (that are sometimes easy to pick out after reading a few or the first chapter)
ummmm
mystery
main characters with a deeppp past (like something major happened that made them the way they are or something that they are trying to fix or something )
.....
anything that you think you would like to read when reading a comic!!
ummm
action (i think depending on the comic)
comedy (like jokey jokes... doesn't have to be like you know perverted jokes...it could just be funny)
conflict (between characters and worlds!!)
ummmm
love interest (but it doesn't have to happen right away...the main character could be best friends (or the side kick) of the other person (or a sub character that becomes one of the main characters) ---this person becomes the love interest...

i think i hit most of the main things....others i would add is stuff like things that would hit a certain audience...it depends on the genera of the comic you are making...like does it have super heros, is it mostly a comedy....depending on that would answer the rest of your questions about detail...

oh and last thing..i just thought of it...add detail...and try not to make it confusing...like dont have characters with the same name or with similar names...bc when ppl are now reading the comic and they don't know who is who...they can get confused with what happened with which character (well i do anyway)

EDIT!
other than na writer and artist...you need a publisher to get your comic out there (and advertisment...like tumblr, facebook, or something...tumblr you can find many comic ppl on it...like critic comic...i follow that guy here is a link to his tumblr..maybe you can ask him questions---ik he was at the recent NY comic fair or something--at his own booth)

criticcomics.tumblr.com
the guys name is ian andersen
