How do you leave a message on someone twitter?

If i am following someone and they are not following me, im i able to leave them a message on there page. Also like if they ask a question and want peopel to reply how do you reply to it?

to reply type @<their username>. Also if you want to direct message them type "d <their username> <your message>" (without quotes).

Here's info about messages.

When a person is not following you all you have the ability to do is send them @ replies which would look like this.
[@BodyByChocolate Hello]

When a person is following you there are two options for your communication which are the @ and the DM. That would look like this.
[@BodyByChocolate Hello]
[D BodyByChocolate Hello]

NOTE: A person MUST be following you for you to be able to DM them a msg.

In theory...
@'s are seen by the Twitterverse
DM's are seen by specific people only
