My friends currently hate me?
Well, my close friends invited me to play basketball with them and I said no. The reason is because I already made plans with people I met recently. So I guess you could kind of say I blew them off for different friends. But it's high school, aren't you suppose to expand and make new friends? I mean, I love my close friends but I don't want to keep hanging out with them, I want something new.

So, lately I have been texting them (seeing if they want to hang out), sending them messages on Facebook and sending DMs on twitter; but I get no response. And it hurts me the most because I see they are currently tweeting, but they can't answer a simple DM?

I was going to ask them what is up, but my girlfriend said they heard them calling me pretty bad stuff. What should I do?

If they act towards you in a such a way only because you refused to go out and play basketball with them. It means that they are really not that close friends to you. Whenever you meet them next time (Not online) just try to talk to them about this situation and ask what's up then.

People are basically jealous and the refusal to play basketball with them, they could have been jealous or deep down wondering why all of a sudden they were not good enough for you. Thus the hurt they felt, but would never say it. Saving face is so important when you are in your teens which I am assuming you are. Close friends sometimes feel threatened by new people "in the gang" not like a street gang, just a bunch of guys.

Stop trying to get in touch with them, it's about a power struggle//don't like that word//but maybe a control issue. You are appearing weak to them trying to get in touch with them and they know they can manipulate you. Stop completely and see what they do. They could answer, but again it's a silly ego thing. And yes they will talk about you because you "rocked the boat"---leave them alone for a while, act like you don't care and see what they do. A saying to leave with you, "He who angers you, controls you"--good luck, just be patient, jl

It would be best to confront each of them in a calm manner. If they want to reconcile, reconcile with them. If they drift further from you leave them be, let them go and do as they please. New people will come into your life and, hopefully, they will treat you better.
