google listes all of its surches in order of most visited so to get yours at the top you need to get more people going onto your site than the number 1 whats onther now
i wouldent even try doing this unless you have loads of money what you have no other use for but if you are some millionair the bestway to do it would be to advertise advertise and advertise more

Ignore the first answer. the second answer is right - its based on SEO. In short you need to write quality content (use keyword demand tools such as the Google Keyword tool to track demand). You also need to ensure you write proper Meta title tags and description tags. Thirdly, Google 'loosely' uses a system called PageRank to determine ranking. It is based on the quality of pages that link to your site. The higher quality pages that link to you, the better your chances of improved ranking. In order for them to find you in the first place - write good content! You might want to look up Link Bait too. For immediacy in rankings (not organic), consider advertising with Google Adwords.

The best way to get traffic from search engines is to have high quality keywords with little competition from other sites.
Research your keywords using Google's Adwords tools before publishing.
Also, consider the power of backlinks. Sites with more backlinks from high ranking websites have greater "authority" with search engines. You can have some success building backlinks by using social networks, creating blogs or Squidoo/Hubpages about keywords or using article marketing. Backlinks from related websites have more weight (my unofficial opinion).
Be prepared to spend some time working on optimization. Unless you get lucky with a certain keyword or phrase, it does not happen overnight.

To be honest, it’s not all about SEO. Search Engine Optimization is a factor is getting top rankings in search engines, but it is not the sole entity. SEM (search engine marketing, back linking and link popularity are just as important.

And don’t be fooled into thinking that keywords will get you to the top either. Key phrases are the way to go. When someone does a search, they don’t usually use only one word. They use a specific phrase. Gear your description and keywords meta tags towards that. You will see your site bump up in its rank faster than you could imagine.

Use social media and bookmarking sites. Announce your site by linking to it and watch your visits climb. Also, submit your site to web directories placing it within the same category your site is in. When you increase the number of sites linking back to yours, it creates visits to your site. The more visits you have, the more search engines seem to think your site is worthy of top listings.

These are tactics that I use for the sites I build and they have been proven to work exponentially.
