How safe is it, if at all, to friend strangers on Facebook?
After posting pictures on a Facebook page for BBW lovers, I have been getting a crap load of friend requests from men...and a few women.

I also have pictures of my little brother and sister on my profile and don't want some pedophile to take notice.
I'm not complaining, DrDave.

I fully expected to get friend requests from random men, but still wanted to ask this question out of curiosity, since I know a guy who has so many Facebook friends that he can't possibly know each one of them personally.

In my opinion, it isn't safe to friend strangers on Facebook

All the friend requests I have accepted are from people I know (in real life)

Duh....what did you expect? If you're that naive, you need to stay away from computers and internet.

i wouldnt add anyone i didnt know, there is really no point, they will start to get information that they shouldnt from your updates and things.

if your posting on such pages, your only going to be attracting the attention of a certain type of person, pretty sure there not the kind of person that you want on your friends list.

also if your account get's hijacked, or someone attempts to log into your account multiple times and it's locked, Facebook have a superb system (sarcasm, it's horrible) to get your acount back, to show that it's you logging in you have to identify who is in the picture they show about 5 diffrent sets, like match the name to the pictures. and most of the time these pictures are not even of the people but random things that they or you or someone has been tagged in, so takes an age to get your account back.

I did a research paper about this a week ago... here are a few things you should know.

First of all there is no "safe" on facebook. People will make fake accounts and use them as their second life. Get to know you a little better. They can fool you with social engineering. You fall for it and it won't end up pretty. You can get blackmailed for anything and ontop of that meeting a stranger is even worse. Even if you webcam with a person, you really don't know them... So i would recommend you don't talk to strangers. If you do however, keep your personal stuff away. Just stay on topic with that stranger.BBW in that case... which i like.. and i'm 20 LOL

i would strongly not recommend friending stranger as you dont know them at all and you dont know what they are going to be doing on your account, they could be very dishonest people and could cause you a lot of hassle. stick with friending people you actually know. i actually thought fb did not like people friending strangers and i think they have closed peoples accounts for something like 10 days for doing this, im not 100% sure of that though, just what i have read here on yahoo answers
