Why would a guy ask this?

Last night I was out with some friends from work + my sister and her friend. My work friends are all male. We were having a chat and of them randomly says "Can I just ask, is everyone here single?" My sister told he later she thinks that he is into me but I don't know... The weird thing is is that I'm sure he would have stalked my Facebook and seen my cover photo in which I am with my boyfriend, because later he added me. I'm in a long distance relationship and he said he is too but when I asked him about it he seemed a bit strange about it.

What do you think? Why would he ask that for the sake of it?

From what you said, he might like you but he was just to shy to ask only you if you had a boyfriend. He also probably said that he was in a long distance relationship just because he wanted to seem cooler to you or maybe he was trying to make you jealous
