Are Myspace and Facebook designed for people with loads of time on their hands?
I've been a member of Facebook and Myspace for a while now and though I'm not a frequent visitor, I do wonder how some people ALWAYS manage to spend so much time in there.

Some of my friends send me these applications each and every day. One of my friends has over 80 applications installed in his facebook account, others have even more!

Are these sites designed for people who live on the internet or have LOADS of time on their hands?

They are designed for a wide range of users, some of which have much time on their hands. To keep these people as visitors, they come up with things for them to do. You can however, be a member and not spent a lot of time.

Not really.

Do you know how much homework I have? But I would rather spend the weekend myspace-ing.

I go on myspace once a day, check mail, respond, and then sign off. Some people can sit on myspace/facebook for 12 hours a day. Obviously they have nothing better to do.

I know someone who does not have a job (she doesn't need one), and she spends most of her time on myspace. So, yes, she has a lot of free time on her hands.

I also have heard at least 3 office managers complain that many employees spend tons of company time screwing around on myspace. I wouldn't call that "free" time, but there you go.

I myself hate myspace, I think it's retarded, but that's just me. I do, however, have a blog, and for about 3 months I spent quite a bit of time on it, before I just totally burned out and stopped updating it. I had a lot of readers, too, which is exciting, and makes you feel like you are famous (even though none of your "fans" actually know who you are) so I can sort of relate. I suppose having a lot of "friends" on myspace might make you feel the same way. It's still retarded, though.
