How to get rid of facebook contacts icon on blackberry curve 8900?

I have the FB app on my BB Curve 8530 and when the icon appears at the top for me its an indicator that I have a FB message. So try going to your FB app and clicking the messages icon at the top. If you have new messages and check them it should clear that icon until you receive your next message.
