Why does he text me, but doesn't even look at me at school?

I texted this guy, and told him I liked him. It's a long story how I got his number and what happened. But anyway, he said I'm attractive, and since then he's been texting me frequently. He also followed me on twitter and added me on Facebook. However, he doesn't even look at me in the halls at school.
What does this mean?

He may like you but he doesn't like you enough to show it in public, if he totally ignores you in school (not even a hi and bye) then hes up to something. He may be sticking around to see what he can get out the deal. Text and ask him why he acts so shy in public?

he doesn't acknowlege you in school, and that's a sign that he doesn't want people to know that you two are friends, for whatever reason. chances are that he just wants to keep you around to boost his ego since you like him and you're the one who initiated to be friends. its flattering, and kinda like an ego booster everytime you reply to his texts.

but on a lighter note, maybe he's just shy (: with more communication, you should be able to tell if he's patronizing you or just a very shy person.
