Sorry it is a Blackberry 8350i from Nextel ao I want to remove the yahoo text message or notifications

You didn't mention what kind of phone.

If an iPhone, simply open the app again.
Some apps (Mostly less-popular games) will have the notifications stuck there. Popular ones like Mail, Facebook, etc will update.
