why are people saying happy 11/11/11? what does it mean?

it's trending on twitter, I know it's about tomorrows date but I don't understand?
In UK, the 11th of November is remembrance day for all those that have died in war, everyone wears a poppy and we have marches and services.. I know it's in no reference to this, I'm just curious as to what people are talking about? I'm guessing it's american?

Tomorrow Veterans Day in America. Also people believe at 11:11 if you make a wish it will come true, therefore 11/11/11 must be a lucky day or something to some people

It's been like that every year since it changed to the year 2001. There was 01/01/01 and 02/02/02 etc. etc. This year is such a big deal because it's all 1s... kinda silly by we Americans love kitchy stuff like that.

It's Veteran's Day here in America where we honor the war dead.

But it's also the numbers themselves, and if you like this sort of thing. It is fun.

Tomorrow's date will be 11-11-11. Go further and the time is 11:11:11.

So you have the date and time which at 11:11 and eleven seconds a.m. and p.m. and the date and time will be: 11-11-11 11:11:11

Because 11 stand for the 11th day, 11th month and it's 2011. It's also remembrance day, so people remember all those that have died in war and that serve the country. 11/11/11 will never happen again, as it will never be 2011 again.

Everyone tells me that if you make a wish on 11:11 o'clock on the date Nov. 11 2011,
The wish might come true!
Isn't it cool?
