I dont understand Twitter yet. When you mention someone or respond to them .. do they get a notification?

What does it mean if @namme is in the middle of the sentence.

they don't get notification unless they are following you. it will show up on their news feed of tweets and they can look at all of their replies and see it there

If someone puts @..... in the middle of their post they're mentioning that person in their post. That person can then go into the "Tweets mentioning @....." section on the right to see what tweets have been posted mentioning them. But they don't get a notification. However when you direct message someone they do get a notification.
