Whats the # about in twitter?
what i mean is, do you need to type in the hash and then followfriday for this to work or does it automatically come up with #followfriday??
do you just put for example : #followfriday in the status update bit and it'll come up with a link sort of thing? Ads |

The hash (#) represent a trending topic so if there is "#followfriday" that means the person who posted it is trying to make "followfriday" a trending topic

The # symbol before a word means that when a Twitter user wants to search for a particular topic, they can type in a search word (eg X Factor) and all the posts/tweets that start with '#X factor' will appear on the list of search results. It is simply a way of organizing search terms.
