how can sending a FACEBOOK application to your friends save trees?
there are several FACEBOOK applications (such as: 'lil green patch') that claim to save a specific amount of rainforest or # of trees per # of people you send the application to. how does this actually work? how is the revenue generated to protect these resources? is there underlying advertising, or something that doesn't meet the eye here?

Companies can sponsor these. What they do is say.. for every 10,000 (or any number), or invites sent. Will donate $1,000 to the "Save the Rainforests Foundation. or something like that. I'll try to explain it better. It's kind of like "Idol Gives Back". It's sponsored by American Idol. What they do is they bring in performers willing to help raise money (facebook members), the performers sing, or do whatever and people call in and donate (facebook members sending invites), American Idol donates all the money they get to the needy (the company that sponsors lil green patch gives the money to the Save a Rainforest, or whatever name) get it?
