How do you fix Facebook being really slow?

Lately, my facebook is always freezing when i want to click a link. I have to wait about 10 seconds before it responds. Or it just freezes. I don't have a lot of applications (8). How do I fix this? Is it because I have a virus on my computer or is it facebook's problem? How do I fix it? Anybody else experience this? It just happened recently.

get rid of the applications, it does slow things up a lot. theres no reason you should have lots of applications, esp if some are ocassionaly used. if its not that, then maybe its your computer check the internet settings
