What jobs can you do with a BS in social psycology?
I recently received my AA degree at a community college for general studies. I am interested in pursuing a degree in social psycology. The university I am looking in to is very expensive and I want to know if this degree can reap me financial security. I love learning about society and how people function, and I want to help people in need. My husband and I have been going to therapy and it has helped us so much. That is what inspired me to pursue this field. Up til this point I was undecided.

It doesn't reap you financial benefit. After college, you can do some type of management/marketing/business like any other humanities and social sciences major can. Usually, though, sociology and psychology majors get thrown into human resources (lame). The degree will NOT give you any jobs in the field of psychology. Expect your salary to average between 35 to 45k (50k if you're really lucky or graduated from a top 20 University) a year right after college.
Oh, and btw, if you want to persue a Ph.D on the field of Social Psychology you'll be thrown into University teaching/research that makes only about 60k a year out of collge. If you work for an Ivy League or have been tenured (which usually takes 20-25 years), you will make about 80 to 100k a year. A Ph.D in social psychology is undesirable to business compared to Organizational Psychology or Business Marketing majors. |

i don't know what social psycology does, but is it similar to social work? then i would not bet on it. i have a friend who had masters in social work and still could not get a job. so think carefully before going into it.
