should i get an iphone or a blackberry?
i've had the iphone 3G for almost 3 years now. most of you probably remember that back then if all the cell phones in the world would have gotten a 4 the iphone would have a 10, but 3 years is a long time and little by little more and more phones were released by different companies, including the androids, the new and improved blackberries, and lately also the 4G network phones (which are usually androids).
now that it's been that long and my contract is over, i think its about time i finally get a new phone to replace my crappy old iphone 3G, which doesn't do much nowadays...

now here comes the issue: what phone should i get?
my 2 top choices are the blackberry torch 2 and the iphone 5 (both do not have an official release date yet, but obviously are going to have one soon).
NOTE: i know that the features and advantages of both phones are only based on rumors at the moment. my dilemma is based on the older versions (the iphone 4 and the torch 9800), so please refer to your knowledge on them in your answer, and not to rumors on the unreleased ones that i'm waiting for. also, please try to ignore the war of androids and iphone. at least for now when i say "iphone" i am also refering to all other similar phones in the same tech level (and affordability level). same thing goes for blackberry torch 2 and blackberry bold touch.

okay so obviously when judging by technical specs the iphone 5 will be 100 times, if not 1000 times better then the torch 2; the itunes app store has, and always will have the largest and best collection of apps. not to mention speed and functionality, graphics, memory and media playing, which apple has proven many times to be the best at.
these facts don't bring down the blackberry, however, since that is normally what u'd expect from something thats almost twice more expensive. due to not buying a new phone for almost 3 years now, i can, and am willing to spend as much as it takes to get the best phone possible: so why am i still thinking really hard about getting the torch instead?

well the truth is even though the iphone is that much better of a phone, the blackberry is still a pretty damn amazing phone. ignoring the part about connection speed not being as good as in the iphone, blackberry has been proven to be the best choice for txting, email, facebook and IM. not to mention bbm (blackberry messenger), which i've been dying to have for a long time now, cause at least until the end of 2012 i am outside the country, and with bbm i can basically txt everyone in the us for free as long as i pay for unlimited data (which isn't that expensive here). besides that, although iphone obviously have way better features and is way more advanced, comes the question of need: do i really need all the extra features of the iphone? at least right now, other then the ipod music and video player which not having on my phone anymore scares me, the only "advantage" i see in an iphone 5 (at least when judging by the current features of iphone 4) is having every kid i see, almost every teen i see, and even a lot of adults i see begging me to let them borrow my phone for a few hours to play angry birds or fruit ninja. gaming is one of the factors that made me by the iphone 3G 3 years ago, but now i realize that i never really used the games.

due to my current situation with money that i mentioned earlier, if the iphone 5 ends up having bbm somehow id by it before i even snap my fingers, but RIM aren't stupid, there's no way they'll ever give apple bbm and make themselves go out of business.

so what do you think: should i get the iphone 5 or the blackberry torch 2?
thanks for your time!!! =]

well there's a big difference between android and iphone, and I wouldn't get a blackberry for the reason that its going bankrupt, (thanks in part to androids rising popularity)

I would personally advise you to get any top android phone, there like mini computers

http://www.androidcentral.com/best-andro...-june-2011

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps.
the android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000, some say it will surpass it before the year is over.

Security
both Iphone and android offer equal security, though they have different means of doing it.
iphone, verifies all the apps so you cant get a virus through an app, but the rest of the phone is semi-vulnerable.
Android does not check the apps, but the apps are run in a isolated way, as to not affect the system in event of a virus.
so both phones are equally prone to viruses (and if this a big deal for you, android has a antivirus app, which iphone does not)

other reasons for android
turn-by-turn GPS
better and larger screen
no need to connect to computer to sync
heres a big one, add a sd card
better calls
more customizable
more powerful hardware
flash support, watch ALL the online videos

apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They dont realize that Samsung, a android phone maker supply’s the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.
The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

Also apple never invents anything, all they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as “magical” and “innovating”, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.

Also if you’ve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android

1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen
5. Tabbed browsing

according to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since the beginning will be available on IOS5

as you can see android is far ahead of the curve

I would personally say to get the iPhone, because iMessage is going to be released with iOS 5 and over the next few years, RIM (company that makes BlackBerry) might go out of business, and there are no signs of Apple going under anytime soon. Apple even hit an all-time high for their stock ($373.80), and RIM is near their 2 year low (~$25). You seem to be wanting a phone that you will be able to use over the next couple of years, and BlackBerry's connect to RIM's servers for BBM and stuff, and you would'nt be able to use those apps on the phone if RIM goes under.
