How do I fix a problem with Facebook?

Occasionally,and when I say occasionally I mean most of the time, a pop up will come up saying "Internet Explorere cannot open the Internet site (Insert place on Facebook) Operaton aborted." I have to click the x or Ok in the window. It isn't just on applications that this happens. It may be when I first log on to FB that it will come up and move me to a blank page. Tell me if I need to be more specific. Help!
