Xperia play and facebook, useless or just me?

Ok I have an xperia play with facebook installed, and it seems useless, I cant play or load on of the games like bejeweled blitz, I click on the game and it just gives me a page to read, although set up I got no notifications to my phone at all, I only have the words no friends online.to chat, when they are showing upon my wifes account om both her laptop and iphone, essentially the whole app is useless, or am I missing something?

Log-in to your Facebook account.

Click "Account," followed by "Privacy Settings."

Locate the "Applications" subheading and click "Edit your settings."

Click "Edit Settings" beside the game you wish to reset, followed by "Remove Application."

Click the search bar at the very top of the page. Type in the application name and click it when the result appears on your screen.

Click "Allow" when asked to install the application. This re-installation resets your information and the game itself.
