Suggest me some good Facebook applications?

I just started using Facebook and I need some ideas on how to make my page unique. I saw a profile with a pretty hearts background behind their friends list. How can I do that? Also, if there are any applications that you want to suggest to me please do that also!

Addicted To Gossip Girl application is my favorite - you can answer trivia, you get ranked, and you can put pictures of your favorite characters.

definetly agree on the addicted to gossip girl and addicted to 24. Video and stickies are super fun. also game apps like pac man or jetman are really addicting. Top friends is where you get the backround, its an option in the menu
