What problems are there with smaller homes?

I'm doing a design project for school and I need a lot of market research, so please answer, thank you very much! Smaller homes can be temporary ones for example holiday homes (e.g caravans) , homes at university, first homes (after getting married, before a having own family) etc.
Also your answer can relate to economy, social issues.

I don't see there being any problems as long as the structure is good. They are more than likely cheaper, and use less energy because it doesn't take as much to heat or cool.

A big problem with a small home is furnishing it. It's hard to find really comfortable furniture that will fit. You also need to have things smaller, like a small cafe table instead of a dining table. Or, you have to get a full or queen size bed, because there's no way a king would fit. Not to mention the bedroom furniture. Another big problem is the lack of storage, especially closet space.

And, smaller homes are more likely to have fewer and smaller bathrooms, smaller kitchens with very little counter space, no dining or laundry room, etc.
