Why were the Greeks unable to think in terms of a larger nation?
I have some guidelines, i'm not sure what direction to take with them though.

Historical Development
Practicality
City-state system
Geography
Trade and industry (different markets) *importanttt*
Economic competition
Political & social structures of individual cities

after the dark ages.
