Is it weird to ask for a girls number online?

So there's 2 girls: girl A who I talk to a decent amount and I want to get her number but I only see her at lunch and I don't want to ask in front of the whole table and girl B who I don't really know, but she likes me and wants me to text her.

I was thinking about sending girl A a direct message on twitter and if that doesnt work out, I'll hit up girl B but is it weird to ask for a number on twitter? I honestly have no idea what to do.
