How do you send someone a message on twitter?

How do you send someone a message on twitter? I am confused? Will it show up on their page cause I have tried and only see it show up on mine?
How do you send a message or tweet to someone thats not following you though ??

When you click the button message, you can send a message to whomever, but only that person will see it and no one else.

Edit: the person doesn't have to follow you, all you have to do is send them a message, but you won't know if they got it because they can only see it...unless they reply back to you. Or if you want to tweet them something just reply to one of their tweets.....also when you tweet, you can use @...'whatever their username is'...they can see when someone mentions them and probably they'll tweet you back.

go to your messages tab on the top of the page, and click new message. you can send the message from there

Because everything you write to anyone will only be shown on YOUR page. The same goes for everybody else's twitter. What you see on their page is what THEY write to others. The only other way you can see on their twitter what someone else wrote is if the owner ''re-tweet''. When they re-tweet what someone wrote, it will be shown on their twitter page. But the other posts are written by the owner of that twitter page.

Also, sending private messages is possible but most celebrities have it disabled. The only way then is to write @(insertnickname) write your message...
and hope they read it.

First go to that user and find a small message icon there. You will not find the icon if that particular person is not following you. When you find that icon you can send message to the guy. If you don't find it you have another option. Just tweet something with their name mentioned! It will notify them.
