I heard that my generation is actually the first generation which is not going to be capable of continuing th trend of progressive success due to the backlash from social security, job and housing markets and the cost of education relative to inflation. True or False? Proof?

Yes it probably is true. It is not "due to the backlash from social security, job and housing markets and the cost of education" but plain and simple laziness on the part of many in our generation. To many people our age were brought up having everything handed to them and want it to be that way forever. People like that don't take their education seriously and as a result bring down the overall skill level of the workforce which forces companies to either outsource work or sponsor highly skilled immigrants to do the work they can't.
