What does Bush mean by allowing people to invest part of their social security contributions?
******In Geroge w. Bush's plan to solve the social security problem, what does he mean by we can invest PART of our social security contribution to a private account? Isn't our social security contribution taken automatically by our employee through the pay roll?

Bush's plan to "fix" social security is the equivalent of your computer getting a virus and you decide to just throw it out instead of saving it.

He wanted social security in the hands of Wall Street where it would mysteriously disappear. And as we know, nobody would be indited or go to jail.

That was the plan which got shot down in flames. It was that people could voluntarily invest up to 10% of their SS deductions in some other plan on their own. Not quite sure of all the details but that was it.

He wanted to let people invest a small portion of there money in selected investments.Sadly liberals think government can do better even if all that is left in the SS fund are IOU's

If I remeber correctly, he would have taken a portion of your SSA tax and would have invested it in the stock market.
This COULD potentially provide a larger payout for long term employees, but the stock market isn't guaranteed.....and if it crashes....like it did during his admin...... millions of Americans would lose most of their invested money, leaving them with nothing right at retirement age. |

You're several years too late. George Bush is no longer the President.
