questions about the htc droid incredible 2! :)?
hi everyone, i recently got the htc droid incredible 2, and its a nice phone and all, but i'm really not a tech geek so i have quite a few questions. i would love it if you could answer all of them thoroughly and detailed (please!) , but if you don't know all of them answering some parts of them is also fine.
1) i have the minimal data plan, 30 bucks per month. i don't want to use the internet provided by verizon (does that make any sense? sorry my tech language isn't that great), because there is little space for all the webpages and apprently if i use the verizon provided internet too much i willl ose memory space and have to pay lots of extra money. so basically i use wifi and use free internet at places where they have it. so.....what apps and stuff in the htc droid incredible 2 are using the verizon internet thing ? (mainly do stuff like the gmail app, google app, the "talk" thing which is basically gmail chat for me, youtube, facebook, etc.) or do those not require verizon internet? or do they not require ANY internet/wifi at all? GAHH SO CONFUSED FJS;AFKDLS;AEIJF
2) it constantly asks to "update information". should i just accept and let it do it everytime or will they take up space in my phone ? or will they not....dunno at all. D:
3) how do you find the "phone calls "section ?! like, missed calls, received calls, all calls, those things.
4) where do i download more apps ? is it the button that's something along the lines of "vcast apps" (? i think) or is it the "market" one for android.
5) can i delete some of the preinstalled apps? will they free up space?
6) also, with the space / memory of the htcdroid 2, about how many apps can i have and still have roomy space left on the phone ?
7) LAST ONE! whew.. what is this whole "syncing account " thing? shoudl i sync or not? i'm not sure if it's better to leave my mobile as mobile, or make everything on my computer the same as on my phone (synced) advice

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
obviously i am clueless. this is also my first phone, maybe getting such a high tech one wasn't such a good idea. but it's too late. please please help me out!

oh dear lord dear.... lol.... you need ejumakashion big time! :-)

1) i have the minimal data plan, 30 bucks per month.
------------------- I assume you mean the new 2GB data plan Verizon has.. ok

i don't want to use the internet provided by verizon
------------------- understandable... 2GB is 2048 MB... only 97% of America uses under 2GB.. only 3% go over that---most due to online gaming and movie downloading and video streaming like facetime, QIK, tethering phone to computer, etc

because there is little space for all the webpages and apprently if i use the verizon provided internet too much i willl ose memory space and have to pay lots of extra money.
-------------------- whoa there! LMFAO! Your confusing A DATA PLAN with physical internal memory. A data plan means your given X amount of internet usage per month. Internal memory is built into the phone. I and YOU pay ONLY for the internet (DATA PLAN)

so basically i use wifi and use free internet at places where they have it.
-------------------- Cool, that will help with you not going over that 2GB Data Plan cap

so.....what apps and stuff in the htc droid incredible 2 are using the verizon internet thing ?
--------------------- There are 295,000 apps on the Android Market. 90% of them use the internet like email, IM chat, facebook, youtube, netflix, weather apps, podcast apps, news apps, most all game apps.... basically any App that gives you information, status updates, email messages, notifications is 99.99% using the internet. This is why Android is a Smartphone. Smartphone CONSTANTLY use the internet and MANDATED by ALL wireless carriers to have a data plan, whether the phone is in your pocket, purse, bookbag, or laying on the table, or else your bill would be $1000+ per month!

2) it constantly asks to "update information". should i just accept and let it do it everytime or will they take up space in my phone ? or will they not....dunno at all. D:
----------------- if it wants to update, THEN UPDATE!!! Apps constantly need updating as developers always push out updates. Everyday you need to go to your Android Market, open it, hit menu button, go to "My Apps", and see if any apps you got have a "update available" message, and download the update. It will auto-install. Update are free always. Since your on a 2GB only plan, i would only do updates via your WIFI connection.

3) how do you find the "phone calls "section ?! like, missed calls, received calls, all calls, those things.
--------------- Phone is an app... usually called DIALER... open up dialer. That will open up the above of what you want.

4) where do i download more apps ? is it the button that's something along the lines of "vcast apps" (? i think) or is it the "market" one for android.
---------------- since this is Verizon, you have 2 markets pre-installed. The 295,000 apps stated above is in MARKET. This is the Android Market. VCast is Verizon made apps for only Verizon Android phones. It only has 500 or so apps and most are already on the MARKET! Vcast is pointless!

5) can i delete some of the preinstalled apps?
----------------- Yes and No.... Preinstalled apps are called BLOATWARE by us techies. WE HATE BLOATWARE! We root our phones (just like Iphone Jailbreaking) so we can use an App called Bloatfreezer and FREEZE THEM or simply delete them forever. Non-rooted phones cannot delete bloatware. Rooting is required. I wouldnt NOT mess with rooting until you have grown up (in Android terms)

will they free up space?
----------------- yes--For internal hard drive space

6) also, with the space / memory of the droid incredible 2, about how many apps can i have and still have roomy space left on the phone ?
----------------- Incredible 2 has 1.2 GB internal memory and up to 32GB expandable memory using a SD card. Even without a SD card, you still have 1.2GB . After phone OS memory, that leave you about 750 MB free. App can be 1MB-25MB in size. So, worse case senario, you should have space for about 100 apps. With a standard 8GB SD card from walmart, you can 1000+!!!

7) LAST ONE! whew.. what is this whole "syncing account " thing?
----------------a phone must sync. If you want your gmail, yahoo mail, IMs, Facebook Friends msgs, Piccsa pics, Myspace, Twitter messages, ETC... it MUST SYNC! Think of the word SYNC as ""get my information from my account NOW""
