How does this make you feel about the debt ceiling republicans?
"This country now possesses the strongest credit in the world, The full consequences of a default — or even the serious prospect of default — by the United States are impossible to predict and awesome to contemplate."

"Unfortunately, Congress consistently brings the government to the edge of default before facing its responsibility. This brinkmanship threatens the holders of government bonds and those who rely on Social Security and veterans benefits. Interest rates would skyrocket, instability would occur in financial markets, and the federal deficit would soar."

These warnings written about failing to raise the debt ceiling. Written by

RONALD REAGAN
The same things would happen today only worse.

To Republicans, 2 years ago is "ancient history."

You might as well pull a quote out of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Back then, Reagan's Republicans were more moderate compared to today's more extreme radicals. I think the Nixon administration humbled them 30 years ago.

Lets try to be somewhat recent shall we?

We eventually will need to stop raising the debt ceiling, the Democrats absolutely refused to acknowledge that until the Republican blocked efforts to raise the debt ceiling. As far as I'm concerned the Republicans are doing the right thing.

We gave Obama how many trillions for a "stimulus..." and now, three years later, he has to raise the debt ceiling? What did he do with all that money in three years' time?

How does it make you feel about Obama that just in March of 06, he was saying...

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

Yet now, its a different tune he sings...

30 years for you Reagan quote... 5 for Obama...

Because we are the only ones paying taxes.

Freeloaders consume more than they produce.
Unfortunately they are more and they have voting rights.

The debt ceiling debate has been an absolute disgrace. It is sad that we even have to have this debate. Gridlock politics at its finest...
