How to recieve twitter updates on my phone?

I want to recieve twitter updates from the people I follow. I went to account settings and I set up my phone to recieve messages from people I follow but it din't work so I cleared everything and did it again and I still haven't reacieved any messages on my phone. How can I fix this?

For each person whose tweets you want sent to your phone, you've got to go to their profile and click the little phone icon to the right of the word "following".

Then all of those people's tweets will be sent to your phone.
