What is a smile request, will people know I turned it down on facebook?

I think I tried a while back to accept a smile, but it wanted me to agree to some terms and stuff. Same with some farm game. I just go on to message friends and stuff. What's the deal with this smile business? Will people know I turned it down? I don't want to be rude, but I don't like adding third party stuff into my facebook, I value my privacy.

They won't know you turned it down.

All this third-party crap on facebook is really irritating. I don't bother with it, and block it whenever possible.

I only say this because, I turn down things on Facebook a lot, because I don't stay on long enough to tend a farm or be a mobster D:

I turn those down to. Most of the applications like that smiles, hugs, rounds, people can see how many they've sent, and how many they've received, but not who they are from.
