Unable to log into accounts on the internet from Ipod Touch?

Accounts such as mail can be accessed using the mail application and the facebook application works too but when I open safari and try to log onto accounts it won't log in. When I press sign in, the page seems to be loading but after it loads the same login page pops up, with the exception that what I had typed in is no longer there. So it's as if I refreshed the page. This isn't a problem with typing the wrong username/password because no warning pops up.
