Is there a way to stop the notifications on facebook?

I keep getting notifications/invites form friends for vamipres, various other games, kisses, movie quizzes etc etc! I get about 10 a day and it's driving me nuts! Is there a way to stop these ones so I only get the ones that say someone has written on my wall or commented on a picture?
I know how to stop getting email notifications, I meant just the ones in the right hand corner. I am not interested in all the applications. I am also asking for a friend of mine who is also getting annoyed with them and I bet we aren't the only ones!

yes click account and click the notifications tab

i know facebook applications are ruining facebook, i heard they are coming up with a extended profile for app! i dont think u can change notifications tho

go to account on the right side.. den click on notifications..Facebook notifies you by email whenever actions are taken on Facebook that involve you... Each Facebook application has its own email notification settings. Click the name on the right to change the settings for that application.

but when you leave it long enough it doesnt give like one by one it just says 14 invitations or w/e it doesnt bug u as much
