Annoying vista windows when typing fast?
I own a Dell Studio running on vista. I have discovered something that is extremely annoying. Sometimes, when typing fast, new firefox windows open up, firefox closes, or the "open file" box magically opens when I touch certain keys. This happens mostly when typing emails in facebook, myspace, ect., and is happening when typing in this box now. These windows are resulting from me pushing the keys. I am not pushing CTRL, ALT, or anything, just letters. Anyone had this problem, know what is causing it? It is driving me freaking nuts.

This is a Microsoft thing - they have no concept of 'stuff stealing focus pisses us off' they think 'it's great that you got my attention' is the way to go.

Things like this don't happen when using Ubuntu - I'm typing into Firefox now, nothing steals my focus (though I get some small notifications appearing from the side of my screen when something happens).

Try a dualboot - Ubuntu works great on Dell, much better than Vista - I'm using a Dell Laptop, and it's lovely (though I keep XP as a dual boot just in case I need to use something I can't do in Ubuntu - but now skype 2.1 came out, I have nothing left I can't do except for Windows games)

The other thing I love with Ubuntu is CHOICE. Yahoo Answers is almost an application in itself, rather than just another website, so I set up a firefox profile just for Answers - and run two windows on my second desktop. For research, I press 'Alt' and 'keypad 2' to go to my desktop 2, and do research (I use Opera for searching, it's nicer) then copy text I want, and I can use the 'scale windows' or 'Alt kp1' to go back to my original window - try it out, it's way better than Windows, and no worries about clicking links to get virus/trojans - they don't work.
