What were the motives for US to expand thier influence and become a world power?
What were the dynamic social, political and economic forces that guided US foreign policy from 1898-1945?
Other than the threatening expansion of foreign nation’s power and influence, the necessity for raw materials, and economic markets around the world.

How about the oldest motives known to mankind? Power, and greed.

Everyone wants to rule the world. We accomplished it because our government and society and geographic location all combined to produce the industrial powerhouse that led the technological revolution from muscle power to computing power.

Along the way, our competitors conveniently destroyed each other in the second great war of the twentieth century, leaving us the only real military power on earth with a government flexible enough to withstand the storms of fortune and fate. In effect, we fell into it.

The usual: money and power.
Only one thing guided US foreign policy; money and power. Raw materials and markets were and are the most efficient way of getting that.

from the early days after Independence the US congress has had a the aim to destroy all empires and to use any means

their Biggest bane in US history was the British empire and they did USE WW1 and WW2 to destroy Britain's empire so the USA could Influence the world

it is a fact that america only came into WW1 after the German allies had surrendered and German Politicians were talking peace in 1917 this enabled the USA to Interfere in European Policy making after WW1

but failed to act like France the UK to stop Hitler in fact it was in the USA'S interest not to interfere as corporate USA was making to much money By investing in Germany and the NAZIS

and continued to say things Like why should we enter WW2 Just to save Britain and her empire

that fact that the USA put Hitler in Power and the USA expected Britain to fall in June 1940

does not matter and the USA took over in June 1942 after the UK was winning and then made the rules with secret deals with Stalin and Bribed Churchill with a 6 Billion dollar loan Just to get their own way In European Politicise

this Policy of Congress has shown itself in every continent where the USA has Not Joined But Taken Over even when it was Obvious that the world Disagreed ( Vietnam)
