What is the difference between a conservative and a Neo Conservative?
Neoconservatism in the United States is a branch of American conservatism that is most known for its advocacy of using American economic and military power to topple American enemies and promote liberal democracy in other countries. The movement emerged during the early 1970s among Democrats who disagreed with the party's growing opposition to the Vietnam War and had become skeptical of the Great Society's welfare programs. Although neoconservatives generally endorse free-market economics, they often believe cultural and moral issues to be more significant, and so have tended to be less thoroughgoing in opposition to government intervention in society than more traditionally conservative and libertarian members of the Republican Party.[1][2] Most neoconservatives support the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Paleoconservatism (sometimes shortened to paleo or paleocon when the context is clear) is a term for a conservative political philosophy found primarily in the United States stressing tradition, limited government, civil society, anti-colonialism and anti-federalism, along with religious, regional, national and Western identity.[1] Chilton Williamson, Jr. describes paleoconservatism as "the expression of rootedness: a sense of place and of history, a sense of self derived from forebears, kin, and culture—an identity that is both collective and personal."[2] Paleoconservatism is not expressed as an ideology and its adherents do not necessarily subscribe to any one party line.[3]

Paleoconservatives in the 21st century often highlight their points of disagreement with neoconservatives, especially regarding issues such as military interventionism, immigration, affirmative action, U.S. funding of its allies abroad, and social welfare, to which they are opposed.[1] They also criticize social democracy, which some refer to as the "therapeutic managerial state,"[4] the "welfare-warfare state"[5] or "polite totalitarianism."[6] They see themselves as the legitimate heirs to the American conservative tradition.[7]

Libertarians like to label conservative Republicans as "neoconservatives." They like to claim that "neoconservatives" are not "true" conservatives.

Neo-conservatives are generally fiscal liberals and social conservatives. Kind of the opposite of libertarians.

The Neo.

Neocons use the term "New Earth Order" rather than the more familiar "New World Order".

Alot. I am a classic conservative and I disagree with neocons almost as much as liberals. I view them as moderate leftists. The neocons of today would have been Democrats about 30-40 years ago, back when the people who call themselves "Democrats" today were simply called commies, or just plain insane.

A conservative is someone who believes in less government.Republicans are not conservative at all. They are neo-conservatives who think that government control should be increased and applied to the individual as opposed to corporations. There is also nothing conservative about a theocracy, which is the type of government favored by Republicans as well as the Taliban.

Neo Conservatism didn't originate in the 1970's you twit. Your lack of education is readily apparent for all to see!

I'm a Paleoconservative who can't stand Neoconservatives. To me they are worse than Liberals cause at least with Liberals you can talk to them and come to an agreement. Neocons are hard headed and yes they are Liberals with bad attitudes. Yes there are Socialist Liberals as bad as they are. I think the neocons should date the socialist liberals since they are so much alike.

The regular liberals are more centrist which is a lot better to deal with.

Irving Kristol (January 22, 1920 – September 18, 2009) was an American columnist, journalist, and writer who was dubbed the "godfather of neoconservatism

The movement was a reaction by disaffected Democrats who were unhappy with the erosion of traditional values in the Democrat party in the 1960's. A neoconservative was someone who was liberal in economic policy, liberal in social policy, but traditional in moral values.

Liberals think NeoCon is an insult to conservatives.

They have no idea what the term means
