How do I remove applications from the Publisher on Facebook?

Does anybody know how to remove applications from the publisher (the icons at the top of your wall where you can set your status, share link, etc.)? For some reason mine is set up so it says change status, share link, add photos, where i've been, write note, and then there's a drop down menu for writing on my own wall etc..
Does anybody know how I can get the applications that I've added off the publisher without removing them completely?

In the lower left-corner, there's a little button that says "Applications". Pull that up, choose edit at the top of that window; from there, find it in the list and click "edit settings". When that box pops up, click the "Profile" tab. There should be an option for adding a tab to your profile, with a little link that says "remove". Click that, and it should be off the tabs.

click applications, and just click the X on the corner
