What's up with the pound (#) sign on facebook statuses?
I'm not referring to the twitter crap. Here's an example: I'm stressed about my test tomorrow.
#worried and confused
So is it just a 'cool' thing to do on your status or something? Like to say how you feel, but the pound sign makes it look 'cool'?

This is called a "Hashtag" (#) it derived from twitter, people would say their business, then put a hash tag to tag or imply that their using someone or something in their post. I believe that anyone who uses a hash tag on Facebook is a complete and utter retard. But they can do what they want.

It's a "hashtag" from twitter. It's used to link together multiple people's tweets about the same topics.

Either someone has their twitter and facebook accounts linked, or is simply using twitter-style hashtags on facebook.

That's actually a hash, not a pound. It's another way of Hash-tagging for those people obsessed with twitter, but they do it on other social networking sites.
