Is it true anything you post on the internet can and will be used against you in a court of law?

All the prosecutor has to do in discovery is ask for a copy of all of your internet posts, twitter messages, blogs, etc, including the ones where you used an alias. The prosecutor can then cherry-pick and make you out to be a maniac. Thoughts?

It's not that easy, all the evidence they acquire your defense attorney will have access to them as well. If they pick and choose information they attain to form a story and depict you in a certain light, your defense attorney will be able to show the rest of the information clearing up the manipulation of evidence.

The information they attain also has to pertain to the charges. If you get charged with murder but they find child pornography in your computer they can't use that evidence (judge will throw it out if they do) because that has nothing to do with the murder charges (though you probably will be charged with child pornography afterwards)

Yes if you are dumb enough to post something that violates law of the land & leave foot prints to get nabbed. But if you are residing in some other country and there is no agreement between the two countries to exchange wanted persons, you'd probably get away with your breach of law. This happens all the time as we see post against India, Israel, Pakistan, USA etc. by wanted men of Alquida and some other factions of terrorists like IRA.
