Why do people use hash tags? I looked it up on Urban dictionary and I still don't get it. (Never went on twitter)

They are pretending they're on twitter. There you use that to catagorise what you're talking about

A hash tag is from twitter, people who use it off of twitter are idiots. It's to categorize or emphasize something. For example: "I'm about to fall asleep in this class. #boring #schoolsucks" you see how those two hash tags realate to the sentence? Also on twitter if you click on an hash tag it shows anyone else's tweets (tht are not private) who has also used tht hash tag
