Is Twitter free to join and is it worth it?

Is it worth joining Twitter as some of my friends say yes and others say no? So to everyone who is a member of Twitter or ex-member what do you like about it or dislike about it?

One friend told me she had to pay to join it but another told me she didn't. So i'm confused about that!!!

Is it like Facebook in any way?

I hated Twitter..I joined it because my sister said she loved it..but she's 17 and I'm 24. It's free to join but unless you're into following a bunch of retarded "famous people" then I don't think it's worth it at all. Plus the tweets kept clogging up my inbox on my phone. Maybe it all has to do with your age..don't know how old you are, but if you're a teenager you'd probably like it lol.

First of all Twitter is a Free Service.
If you have lots of friends or Followers it is worth to Join in Twitter.
The whole twitter is a Single part(Concept) of Facebook
i.e, In twitter here it is used for updates.., In facebook too U can have updates which published on all your Friends wall. Likewise, in Twitter when U write something, it will be published on all your Friends wall.
