I'm not talking about dating sites, I mean a guy you already know asking you out over FB, twitter, etc. I think it's tacky and somewhat gutless and ingenuine when dudes I know do that. Would you lose respect for him? Would you ignore him? Would it not change your response?

I think that would be alright. I don't see a problem with that.

It would depend on how much I like the guy. I would prefer to be asked out in person. Over the Internet is just... No... But I guess I might still say yes. It would probably lower the chances though

I asked my girlfriend out over the internet, but she does live 171 miles away, so it's not like I was just being impersonal. Seeing as I'd spent more time online with her than in person (although certainly enough time spent together in person to know it was love), asking out online WAS like asking out in person Wink

If I already know him, and have a friendship with him, and he asked me to go to dinner or something than I don't think its bad. But if I don't really know him that well, and it would be our first time hanging out, alone or not, than it would be a bit of an issue. I would at least expect him to get my phone number and at the very least text me, because a text is a 1000x's more personal than FB or twitter. But still a phone call or in person would be ideal.

Ask him to call you personally. This happened to me once and I was tricked. His brother hacked on to his Facebook and pretended to be him.
