How do you send direct messages on Twitter?
If you just joined and you try to send a direct message do you have to have the person's email, or can you send it anyway? If so, how?

For Twitter, direct messages go directly into a small inbox on their Twitter account. Send it anyways.

Here's how.
Write "@the person's username" without the quotes. then push the space bar, and then write your message. Example (Not my real twitter name) @VistaHacker Hey there! Remember to put in the space between the username and the message, and don't forget the @ with no space between the username and the @. Hope this helped. :-) |

You can't direct message (DM) someone unless they're following you. If they're not, try following them and maybe they'll follow you back. Or you can just reply to one of their posts and tell them you'd like them to follow you so you can DM them. Your reply will show up in their timeline. If they're ok with that, they'll follow you.
Give it a try by following me: @virtualjan. I'll follow you, and you can send me a practice DM. Hope this helps! |
