Fill out a Mail Restore and Contacts Restore form ASAP

You only have 48 hours to recover deleted emails before they are permanently deleted from Yahoo's server

Besides changing your password, check to see the alternate address is still yours. Then from your Inbox click on the Settings button then Mail Options then POP & Forwarding to make sure your future mails are not being forwarded to anyone else's address

If you used the same username and password for ANY other site, change those passwords ASAP. Unfortunately 80% of people use the same login details for everything (Ebay, Facebook, Paypal, Linkedin, Instagram, online banking, Twitter, credit cards, Amazon, etc, etc) and the scammers know this so they are going to try entering your details on any site they can find to hack those as well

If your Inbox or any folders contained any financial information (bank statements, credit card receipts, Paypal receipts, etc) you need to immediately contact those financial institutions to freeze your account and get a new account name/number assigned to your account. These hackers will have copied all of your emails and are going through them to see how they can get money from you

Also find some way to contact everyone you know (Facebook, text, etc) to let them know you were hacked. These scammers will usually send an email to all of your Contacts pretending to be you in an emergency situation asking for money to be sent through Western Union/Moneygram

You didn't get an email recently that looked like it was from Yahoo saying you needed to update or verify your account, or that your account had exceeded its limit, or that someone tried to log in, etc? If so, that was not from Yahoo - it was the hackers
