How do you introduce a topic on twitter when you use #?

i was watching the bbc news and they were talking about happiness, they said you can comment on this using #bbchappiness

how would i introduce a topic

Simple: Just start a topic name with # and post it! The hash tag simply means the term becomes searchable, so if you wanted to start a topic on eating cheese for world peace (random, I know) you would just write your Twitter status which includes #eatcheeseforworldpeace
